    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Paul J. Kwasigroch, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 6th Infantry Regiment, 5th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bois-de-Chatillon, France, November 5 – 6, 1918. Despite severe leg wounds Lieutenant Kwasigroch remained on duty with his company throughout the entire action, refusing treatment until his objective had been reached and the remainder of his company reorganized and a liaison established. On the following day after first aid had been given he returned immediately to duty, and during the remaining advances commanded in a most skillful and courageous manner, he being the only officer left with the organization.
