The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Chester C. Kromer (ASN: 280958), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company K, 125th Infantry Regiment, 32d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Juvigny, France 30 August 1918. Corporal Kromer voluntarily made four trips in front of the line, under machine-gun and artillery fire, and brought in four wounded men, who had been left in an exposed position after a withdrawal of the line.
