The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Willie F. Jones (ASN: 1312983), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Medical Detachment, 118th Infantry Regiment (Attached), 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Brancourt, France, 7 October 1918. In the face of heavy enemy fire, Private Jones, together with three other stretcher bearers, advanced before our front line and brought back to shelter a wounded Australian officer.
