Corporal Jones showed extraordinary personal bravery when his platoon was held up by fire from a machine gun emplacement. Crawling forward alone from his own lines, he worked his way to the flank of the enemy position and then rushed it, bayoneting one German and taking two prisoners. his action enabled his platoon to advance at once.
