The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Charles G. Jones (ASN: 1850221), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company F, 318th Infantry Regiment, 80th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bois De Ogons, France, October 4 – 5, 1918. Making his way through a heavy barrage, Corporal Jones brought valuable information as to the enemy’s position to his company commander. He then returned to the enemy’s position showing absolute disregard for his own personal danger, and brought back two wounded men who had fallen there.
