    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class Harvey M. Hopp (ASN: 1375816), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Battery C, 122d Field Artillery, 33d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Romagne, France, 23 October 1918. Under fire from enemy artillery, machine-guns and snipers, Private Hopp crawled out in the open to within 50 meters of a hostile position, remaining there several hours and returning with valuable information concerning the enemy’s movements.
