The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class Elliott Robert Harbin (ASN: 1330351), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company C, 105th Field Signal Battalion, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bellicourt, France, 29 September 1918. While assisting a party in laying a telephone line, Private Harbin was seriously wounded, but refused to be evacuated, and continued his work throughout the day under heavy shell fire. He also assisted in giving first aid to the wounded under fire.
