The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Walter Oliver Goodman (ASN: 3109805), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company E, 315th Infantry Regiment, 79th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Molleville Farm, France, 7 November 1918. Private Goodman volunteered to carry wounded to the first-aid station through, continuous shell fire. After he became too exhausted to carry more, he continued to help those who could walk with assistance.
