The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal George F. Fox (ASN: 1708954), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company F, 308th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near St. Juvin, France, 15 October 1918. Corporal Fox exposed himself to machine-gun fire to rescue a wounded comrade who lay in an exposed position. While crawling out to bring in his comrade he was under direct enemy observation and bursts of machine-gun fire.
