The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class Mack Dudley (ASN: 1865562), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 128th Infantry Regiment, 32d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Terny-Sorny, France, 1 September 1918. During the preparations for attack, Private First Class Dudley acted as runner, carrying several messages through extreme machine-gun and shell fire to the different platoon leaders, maintaining liaison until the reorganization was complete.
