The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant V. Stanley Beaton (ASN: 3164), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 101st Ambulance Company, 101st Sanitary Train, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Wadonville, France, 25 September 1918. Sergeant Beaton established a dressing station outpost under extremely heavy shell fire and cared for his wounded companions in the open under fire from enemy snipers and artillery.
