The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Myron Morris Andrews, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Soissons, France, 19 July 1918. Besides inspiring his men by his conduct in the fighting near Soissons, France, Lieutenant Andrews promptly disposed his company to cover a battalion front in a critical situation and by fearless exposure, under fire, successfully directed the operations of the command.
