Rejected for service in the U.S. Army Air Service, Kenneth Unger enlisted in the Canadian Royal Flying Corps, and then flew combat in France with the Royal Air Force, becoming a DOUBLE ACE, credited with the destruction of 14 aircraft (13 airplanes and 1 balloon) in aerial combat. During World War II he flew cargo planes as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy, and retired as a U.S. Navy Reserve Rear Admiral.
