The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Thomas Bernard Larkin (ASN: 0-3785), United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility as Chief of Staff, Services of Supply, European Theater of Operations from 1942 to 1943. As commander of the Mediterranean base section in the planning stages of the North African landings until he was replaced in command of the services of supply, North African Theater of Operations, Major General Larkin bend every effort to supply the combat troops who were dependent upon him and his organization. His energy and force did much to make possible the successful accomplishment of the supply of United States troops and thereby contributed in a marked degree to the success of the Tunisian campaign. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Major General and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Army.
