While serving with Company G, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Private Keyton displayed great courage while under heavy direct machine gun fire near les Franquettes Farm on 23 July 1918, located an enemy machine gun, crawled back, and reported its location to a 37-mm. battery.
