Beadman (ASN: 2338056), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Sergeant Beadman distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Les Franquettes Farm, France, 23 July 1918, in assuming command of and brilliantly leading his platoon.

While serving with Company B, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Les Franquettes Farm, on 23 July 1918, when his lieutenant was seriously wounded and his platoon badly crippled by enemy machine gun fire, Sergeant Beadman assumed command of the platoon and by his able and daring leadership succeeded in reorganizing what was left of it.
