The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Clifford West Henry (ASN: 52321), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 102d Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, during the St. Mihiel offensive, 14 September 1918. During the St. Mihiel offensive, although mortally wounded and suffering great pain, Lieutenant Henry gave information for the disposition of his men. He refused first aid until other wounded men had been taken care of.
