The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Captain (Cavalry) Charles Bryant Drake, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 14th Cavalry, at the siege and taking of Cotta Pang Pang, Jolo, Philippine Islands, 14 February 1904. Captain Drake’s conspicuous bravery and daring were demonstrated in leading the men to the firing line and being the first over the bamboo fence and the stone wall of the cotta.
