The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Edward Wellington Rudolph (ASN: 2395940), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Mezy, France, 15 July 1918. Private Rudolph successfully carried messages through terrific artillery and machine-gun fire and was twice wounded while performing the mission.
