Tignor (ASN: 1784208), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private First Class Tignor distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 315th Infantry, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Bois d’Etraye, France, 4 – 5 November 1918, in repairing telephone lines under terrific shell fire.
