Leonard, United States Army, is cited (Posthumously) by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. First Lieutenant Leonard distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving as a Medical Officer with the 307th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action at Remilly-sur-Meuse, France, 8 October 1918, in aiding the wounded under heavy enemy fire.
