While serving with Battery C, 76th Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Montfaucon, France, on 7 October 1918, Private Huffman displayed extraordinary bravery and devotion to duty in serving his gun. Private Huffman, after two men in his gun squad were wounded, took the duties of Nos. 3, 4, and 5, and performed them skillfully, maintaining the fire from his piece until he was severely wounded.
