Howard (ASN: 2809664), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Corporal Howard distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company D, 359th Infantry, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Villers-devant-Dun, France, 2 November 1918, in voluntarily going forward and rescuing a comrade who had been wounded.
