No. 43, W.D., 1918), Private Basil Ball (ASN: 554476), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Private Ball distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, 9th Machine-Gun Battalion, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action north of Montfaucon, France, 13 October 1918, while aiding wounded under fire.

Rachael (ASN: 578114), United States Army, are cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded them. While serving with the Medical Detachment, 9th Machine Gun Battalion, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, these two soldiers, notwithstanding heavy artillery and machine gun fire, were tireless in rendering aid to their wounded comrades, not only from their own organization but from Infantry as well.
