Private Marunich distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 6th Machine-Gun Battalion, 2d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Magenta Farm, France, 1 November 1918, in aiding in the capture of a battery of enemy artillery which the enemy were endeavoring to remove to the rear.
