The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Captain Dean Paul St. Pierre (AFSN: FV-3149079/AF-16792802), United States Air Force, for gallantry as the Pilot of an F-4D Phantom II aircraft of the 433d Tactical Fighter Squadron, 8th Tactical Fighter Wing, Ubon Royal Thai Air Base, Thailand, on 24 March 1968. On that date, Captain St. Pierre guided an attack force through adverse weather conditions against a heavily defended strategic target in North Vietnam. With complete disregard for his own personal safety, Captain St. Pierre successfully completed his bomb run, delivering his attack force ordnance on target, despite intense surface-to-air missile defense. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Captain St. Pierre has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
