Under the provisions of Department of Defense 1348.33-M, the Secretary of Defense has awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal to Colonel (Air Defense Artillery) Joseph Anthony Simonelli, Jr., United States Army, for exceptionally superior service to the Department of Defense on the Joint Staff, J-5, Plans and Policy Directorate, The Pentagon, from 2006 to 2008.
