Floyd Cofer graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1941. He was co-pilot of the first Flying Fortress crew to land in Russia after participating in a shuttle bombing mission flying from bases in Italy.He retired in 1961 as a U.S. Air Force Colonel.
