(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Field Artillery) Donald Boyle Stewart (ASN: 0-23028), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Commanding Officer of Battery D, 1st Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, in action against the enemy at Sidi Bon Zid, Tunisia, on 14 February 1943. Captain Stewart kept his battery In action until it was overrun by enemy tanks. He then, with disregard for his own safety, directed is own men to positions of safety. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Captain Stewart, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
