Colonel (Air Corps) John Porter Tomhave (ASN: 0-22036), United States Army Air Forces, was captured by German forces after he was shot down on 16 February 1945, and was held as a Prisoner of War. He was killed on 22 February 1945, when the train in which he was being transported was strafed by Allied aircraft.
