(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant Colonel (Air Corps) Malcolm Daniel Green, Jr. (ASN: 0-20836), United States Army Air Forces, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving as Pilot of a Bomber Airplane and as Commanding Officer of the 47th Bombardment Group (Light), TWELFTH Air Force, in aerial operations in North Africa during a critical period in 1942. Lieutenant Colonel Green commanded two bomber squadrons, a station, and various fighter squadrons, and participated in many operations and exceptional victories. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Lieutenant Colonel Green, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
