The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Legion of Merit to Colonel (Coast Artillery Corps) Arthur Carey Peterson (ASN: 0-18151), United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from January 1952 to July 1960. [This award supersedes the previous award of the Army Commendation Medal to Colonel Peterson for meritorious service during the period 23 July 1954 to 11 September 1956, as announced in General Orders No. 52, Headquarters, United States Army Security Agency, 2 November 1956.]
