The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Colonel (Air Corps) Neal Creighton, United States Army Air Forces, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from 12 August 1942 to 1 October 1943. In addition to his duties as Commanding Officer, Camp ****, and as Commandant, Headquarters, EIGHTH Air Force, Colonel Creighton, displaying initiative, foresight, and sound judgment, organized and projected an Anglo-American relationship program which is being followed throughout the EIGHTH Air Force. By promoting entertainment for British soldiers, children, and civilians, fostering Anglo-American athletics and lectures, and cooperating with British civic and charitable organizations, Colonel Creighton established a sound foundation for a spirit of lasting friendship and cooperation between American troops and British troops and civilians. The tact, foresight, and sound judgment displayed by Colonel Creighton reflect highest credit upon himself and the armed forces of the United States.
