The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Captain (Signal Corps), [then Lieutenant] Taylor Drysdale, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from 26 December 1941 to 10 August 1943. Captain Drysdale, through technical research, developed radio navigation charts which increased the safety of long distance aircraft shipments and improved the control of aircraft escorting convoys. Captain Drysdale conceived, planned, edited and directed publication of “British Radar during World War II,” a comprehensive book to be used for instruction, reference, and detailed information by all persons concerned with radar. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Captain Drysdale and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Army.
