The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Private Harry Serulneck (ASN: 42175298), United States Army, for heroic achievement in action against an armed enemy of the United States near Brownbach, Germany, on 25 March 1945. Private Serulneck volunteered to take orders to a heavy machine gun section located 500 yards from his platoon and to lead them to their new position. In spite of enemy rifle fire, he reached their position and advanced forward to reconnoiter a safe route to the new location. Encountering heavy enemy resistance, he was forced to withdraw and locate a new route. Private Serulneck’s courageous and heroic actions undoubtedly prevented many casualties in the machine gun section and reflect superior initiative and devotion to duty.
