The Secretary of the Army of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Army Commendation Medal with Combat “V” to Specialist Mark E. Ballantyne, United States Army, for meritorious performance of duties while under fire on 8 April 2004. Specialist Ballentyne’s disregard for personal safety and commitment to his fellow soldiers was essential to mission success and the welfare of his platoon. Specialist Ballentyne’s actions bring great credit upon himself, the 39th Brigade Combat Team, and the United States Army.
