The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Private First Class Alan A. Decker (ASN: RA-16928082), United States Army, for meritorious achievement in connection with military operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Private First Class Decker distinguished himself by exceptionally meritorious achievement during the period 23 April 1967 to 7 June 1967 while operating a dozer on Operation MANHATTAN. Through his untiring efforts and professional ability he consistently obtained outstanding results which contributed immeasurably to the success of the mission in which 4,200 acres of jungles were cleared. This clearing operation has denied the enemy the use of a former stronghold, the Boi Loi Woods. His devotion to duty, loyalty, and meticulous attention to detail are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, the 25th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
