The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Technical Sergeant Marvin Houston Moon, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-7A Flight Mechanic at Kontum, Republic of Vietnam, on 16 August 1971. On that date, Sergeant Moon flew on a combat re-supply mission to deliver urgently needed supplies. Despite hostile fire and with complete disregard for his own safety, Sergeant Moon courageously performed his duties thereby ensuring the successful accomplishment of this vital airlift mission without loss of personnel or equipment. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Moon reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
