The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Specialist Fourth Class John Pecoraro, Jr., United States Army, for meritorious service in connection with military operations against a hostile force during the period September 1968 to August 1969 while serving as Radio/Telephone Operator, Combined Tactical Operations Center, Advisory Team 38, United States Army Advisory Group, III Corps Tactical Zone, United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam. During this period Specialist Pecoraro demonstrated outstanding ability and perseverance in the performance of his duties. He was responsible for transmitting many requests for urgent tactical support from allied units in contact with the enemy. Through his meticulous attention to detail and calmness during critical situations, Specialist Pecoraro was able to effect the timely and accurate response to those requests, thereby contributing greatly to the successful conduct of tactical missions by friendly forces. During combat operations, he continued to perform in an exemplary manner by assisting in the coordination of artillery support fire, airstrikes, and medical evacuations. His consistently superior handling of all pertinent information proved invaluable to the mission accomplishment of his unit. Specialist Fourth Class Pecoraro’s performance of duty was in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflects great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
