The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Airman’s Medal to Airman Basic Terry L. Murray, United States Air Force, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life at the 3402d School Squadron, Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, on 1 March 1981. On that date, Airman Murray aided in the apprehension of an armed intruder in the 3402d School Squadron dormitory during the early morning hours. With complete disregard for his own safety, and at considerable risk to himself, he aided in challenging and subduing an individual who was unlawfully attempting to force injustices on Triangle residents. His voluntary actions in successfully terminating the unlawful pursuit of the intruder set an example of selfless courage and camaraderie. By his courageous action and humanitarian regard for his fellowman, Airman Murray has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
