The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Sergeant First Class Clifford E. Hartley, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious achievement as a high mobility artillery rocket system platoon sergeant for a joint task force in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. During this period, Sergeant Hartley displayed the utmost qualities of confidence and devotion to excellence. In a complex and continuously changing environment, Sergeant Hartley had an exceptionally positive impact on the Task Force’s ability to provide rocket and missile fires. His dedication and commitment to mission accomplishment enabled his platoon to maintain a high level of readiness and execution of fire missions at a moment’s notice. Through his distinctive accomplishments, Sergeant First Class Hartley reflected great credit upon himself, this command, and the United States Army.
