(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Colonel (Infantry) William Bing Kunzig, United States Army, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from August 1944 to April 1945 with the G-3 (Operations and Training) Section, Headquarters, FIRST Army. Colonel Kunzig served as head of Troop Movements Section, First Army Headquarters, in France, Belgium, and Germany. During the Ardennes breakthrough, he directed the transfer of 248,000 military personnel and 48,700 vehicles in a ten-day period. All movements were completed without incident or disrup_tion of traffic in the First Army area, aiding materially to the blocking of the hostile offensive.
