The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Lieutenant Colonel (Air Corps) Carlyle B. Burdette, United States Army Air Forces, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from ;7 December 1941 to 1 July 1944, and from 1 September 1944 to October 1945. (This award supersedes the award of the Army Commendation Ribbon to Lieutenant Colonel Burdette by letter 1 May 1944 from the Commanding General, IX Air Force Service Command.
