Buck (ASN: RA-17333693), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Korea on 21 July 1952. When a patrol was ambushed by a numerically superior enemy force firing from concealed positions on both sides of a trail, Private Buck, through having received several painful wounds and being temporarily blinded by shock, crawled to the sound power telephone and resumed communication with the company commander. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
