The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Junior Rovell Bryant (ASN: RA-17230212), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company K, 3d Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korean. On 30 July 1950, the attack of Private First Class Bryant’s platoon near Sengju, Korea, was stropped by a well-emplaced enemy force in high ground. When fire from the hostile machine gun was determined as the chief weapon. Private First Class Bryant alone, arose, charged the weapon, and although mortally wounded, put it out of action, thereby permitting the continuation of he platoon attack. Private First Class Bryant’s intrepid action which inspired his fellow soldiers to greater effort reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
