The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Master Sergeant Delmar M. Boyer (ASN: RA-6931908), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 1 September 1950, in the vicinity of Haman, Korea, while his company was attacking a numerically superior hostile force to reestablish a former position, Master Sergeant Boyer was severely wounded in the shoulder. Despite his painful wound, he courageously continued to lead his platoon to repel an intense enemy counterattack, until he was forced by loss of blood to seek medical attention. After his wound had been dressed at the company command post, he attempted to return to his platoon but was ordered to the aid statin by his commanding officer. Master Sergeant Boyer’s selfless devotion to duty and outstanding leadership reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
