The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Albert Beaulieu (ASN: RA-21292603), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company H, 23d Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 22 September 1951 in the vicinity of Samtae-dong, Korea. On that date Private Beaulieu, a member of a machine gun crew, was with a unit which was consolidating its newly won positions. Suddenly a fanatical enemy force launched a determined counterattack on the friendly elements. During the ensuing action Private Beaulieu observed that another machine gun stood unmanned as its crew had become casualties. He immediately left his covered emplacement and although the weapon was completely exposed to enemy observation and fire, he operated it and proceeded to lay down a concentrated flow of fire upon the onrushing enemy. He continued this action, inflicting numerous casualties upon the enemy, thus enabling friendly units to maintain their position. The gallantry in action displayed by Private Beaulieu on this occasion reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
