The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Legion of Merit to Colonel (Air Corps) Desmond O’Keefe, United States Army Air Forces, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from January 1943 to July 1944. (This award supersedes the award of the Bronze Star Medal to Colonel O’Keefe, for service from 14 October to 28 November 1943, as published in General Orders 205, Headquarters, Army Air Forces, India-Burma Theater, 15 November 1944.)
