The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Airman’s Medal to Technical Sergeant Thomas J. McCrorie, United States Air Force, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life near Holland Drop Zone, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, on 8 March 1988. On that date, while participating in aerial flight as a C-141 airdrop loadmaster, Sergeant McCrorie attempted to pull an entangled trooper back into the aircraft. Sergeant McCrorie, despite the hazard of not being secured to the aircraft, hung precariously outside the aircraft to grasp the trooper and, with the assistance of the other two loadmasters, brought him back to the aircraft door. By his courageous action and humanitarian regard for his fellowman, Sergeant McCrorie has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
