The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Lieutenant Colonel (Transportation Corps) George A. Sullivan, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States in positions of great responsibility culminating as Installation Transportation Officer, United States Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, from November 1970 to August 1974. His entire career has been characterized by unparalleled dedication to duty, demonstrated expertise in a variety of challenging fields, and total dedication to his country. Colonel Sullivan’s distinguished performance of duty throughout his military career represents outstanding achievement in the finest traditions of the United States Army and reflects the utmost credit upon himself and the military service.
